The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday kicked off its 8th national convention at Eagle Square in Abuja, drawing a large turnout of delegates and senior party figures to the capital.
The two-day event has attracted more than 8,450 delegates representing all 36 states and the federal capital territory.
Party officials say the gathering is a key step in preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The venue was decorated in the party’s colours, with tight security and extensive arrangements put in place to ensure smooth proceedings.
Activities inside the main arena began in an energetic atmosphere, with delegates dressed in vibrant traditional outfits taking their positions.
Discussions at the convention are expected to centre on selecting a new national working committee, NWC, by consensus, assessing the party’s performance, and mapping out strategies to strengthen the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Bola Tinubu arrived at the venue alongside the first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, where they were welcomed by party stakeholders and supporters.
He was joined by Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as several state governors.
Other high-profile attendees include senate president Godswill Akpabio, speaker of the house of representatives Tajudeen Abbas, minister of information Mohammed Idris, and minister of Works David Umahi.
