Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu is to be arraigned on May 16, on amended 112-count charge, dated February 11, 2008.
A Federal High Court, Abuja, gave the order on Monday.
The Court gave the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the go ahead to arraign the former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on May 16.
Kalu had before now been charged with a 107-count corruption charge before the amended version which he will have to enter fresh plea.
Trial Justice Anwuli Chikere granted the EFCC, the leave to re-arraign the former Governor after the Supreme Court held in March 18, that the defendant has a criminal case to answer.
Kalu will be arraigned alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and his alleged accomplice Udeh Jones Udeogu.
The EFCC lawyer, Oluwa Leke Atolagbe, however, moved for an adjournment to enable the agency to effectively “prepare for the case”.
His application was not opposed by Kalu’s lawyer, Chief Awa Kalu (SAN), and that of the 2nd and 3rd defendants, Chief Solomon Akuma (SAN).
