The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, June 9, arraigned a social media influencer, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, over a fresh N69.1 million fraud.
She was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing to the tune of N69,150,000.
Count one of the charge claimed that the defendant, on or about March 21, 2025, in Lagos, with intent to defraud, induced Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited to confer a benefit of N69,150,000 on her under the false representation that a property located at No. 1, Tunbosun Osobu Street, Lekki, belonged to her and was available for lease for five years, a claim she knew to be false.
Count two stated that she dishonestly converted to her own use the sum of N69,150,000, being property of Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited, thereby committing the offence of stealing under the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to her.
Following her plea, prosecution counsel, C.C. Okezie, asked the court to fix a date for trial and also prayed that the defendant be remanded in EFCC custody pending her scheduled arraignment before the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on June 10, for another fraud case.
Consequently, Justice Oshodi ordered that the defendant be remanded in EFCC custody and adjourned the matter till July 16, for the hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial.
