A female teacher of an international school in Ibadan, Oyo State, has been abducted by armed gunmen in the Oshin area along Adebajo Street, New Bodija.
Findings indicate that the victim, who lives in the Akobo axis of the city, was driving her Toyota RAV4 to her place of work when her movement was suddenly obstructed by a Toyota Highlander carrying three gunmen, one of whom concealed his face. A separate account suggested she may have been heading to a church programme at the time of the incident.
Witnesses said the masked suspect stepped out of the Highlander and forcefully pulled the woman from her vehicle before pushing her into their waiting SUV. The attackers then escaped through nearby streets, abandoning another woman who had been inside the victim’s car.
Personal items belonging to both women, including their mobile phones, were taken away by the kidnappers.
Residents disclosed that not long after the attack, police operatives arrived at the location where the victim’s vehicle was abandoned, with the driver’s door left wide open.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, who stated that the command had swung into action by deploying intelligence resources to secure the victim’s release.
According to him, the police are working closely with community security partners, while investigations have begun to track down and arrest those responsible.
He assured the public that every necessary step is being taken to address the situation and appealed to residents to remain calm and share any useful information with the nearest police station.
