A fresh attack in Kaduna State has left five persons killed, nine houses burnt and a vehicle vandalized. The attack accorded in Madamai village in Kaura council area of the state.
Confirming the development in a statement, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the Acting Governor Hadiza Balarabe had condemned the violence and appealed for calm.
“The deceased have been identified as follows: Janet Yakubu, Gambo Yakubu, Jonathan Adamu, Mrs. Monday and Humphrey Barnabas,” Guardian quoted Aruwan.
This development also came as the state police command confirmed the killing of an unspecified number of farmers abducted at Buruku and Udawvillages in Chikun Local Council of the state by bandits.
The victims were seized in their farms over a month ago.
The police spokesman in Kaduna state, Mohammed Jalige, explained that the bodies of some of the victims were discovered at the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Muslim Council of Nigeria (MCON) said the most populous black nation was sick of crisis ranging from banditry, kidnapping to farmer/herder clashes and secessionist agitations.
Speaking at an event to herald the new Islamic year, 1443 yesterday in Kaduna, president of the umbrella body of over 70 Islamic organisations, Alhaji Liadi Olapade, regretted that Nigeria’s security challenges were being promoted by “lack of even-handedness and lack of application of prescribed punishment by the laws of the land on those breaching the peace of the country.”
He noted that a situation, where some people are given cover when they commit crime, promotes evil, urging recourse to rule of law.
