Gunmen abduct Kebbi assembly deputy speaker after mosque prayers

    Gunmen have kidnapped the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Bagudu, in his hometown in Bagudu Local Government Area.

    According to local sources, the assailants stormed Bagudu town late Friday, firing sporadically to create panic.

    It was learned that they seized the lawmaker shortly after he concluded his prayers and was returning home from the mosque.

    Confirming the incident, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Ahmed Idris, said security agencies had been alerted and efforts were ongoing to secure the Deputy Speaker’s release.
