Ikeja Electric Distribution Company, IKEDC, has declared a decrease in its electricity tariff for customers falling under Band A, from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh.
In a circular issued by the company’s management on Monday, May 6, IKEDC stated that customers in this category would now pay N206.80/kWh instead of the previously stipulated N225/kWh as directed by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
The statement assures customers falling under Band A of receiving 20 to 24 hours of electricity supply. However, the tariff for customers in other categories will remain unchanged.

“Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh effective 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24hrs supply daily. The tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged.

In April, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, approved an increase in electricity tariff for customers under the Band A classification.
According to the Vice Chairman of the commission, Musliu Oseni, the increase will see the customers paying N225 kilowatt per hour from the current N66.
Oseni, speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, April 3, said customers in Band A represent 15 percent of the 12 million electricity customers in the country, adding that the commission had also downgraded some customers on Band A to Band B due to non-fulfillment of the required hours of electricity provided by the electricity distribution company.
He said, “We currently have 800 feeders that are categorized as Band A, but it will now be reduced to under 500. This means that 17 percent now qualify as Band-A feeders. These feeders only service 15 percent of total electricity customers connected to the feeders.
“The commission has issued an order which is titled April supplementary order and the commission allows a 235 kilowatt per hour.”
He added that the review will not affect customers on the other Bands.
