Insecurity: Angry mob raze house of Sokoto commissioner

    An angry mob alleging complicity with criminals terrorizing the area have razed down the house of the Sokoto State Commissioner for Careers and Security Matters, rtd Colonel Garba Moyi on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, Vanguard is reporting.

    The incident which happened in Isa Local Government Area of the state also saw the mob vandalising vehicles belonging to the District Head of the area, Sarkin Gobir of Isa Alhaji Nasiru Ahamad for allegedly defending the activities of criminal gangs in the area.

    It was gathered that residents of the area have for long been accusing the two of not showing concern to the banditry activities in the area.

    Confirming the attack the Sokoto Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Sanusi Abubakar said the incident happened Tuesday and that the police were investigating the matter.

    Sanusi also added that no life was involved, and as soon as the investigation was completed details would be made known to the public.

    Meanwhile, he pleaded with the residents of the area to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies and the police to maintain the security of lives and property of the citizenry in the state.

    There have been increased mob actions in Sokoto state over the heightened level of insecurity in the state which some have blamed on fleeing bandits escaping the military onslaught.

    A few days ago, The Street Journal reported that 13 suspected bandits were seized from a Sokoto police station by an angry mob, killed and burnt to ashes.
