It’s Time To Remove Fuel Subsidy

As fuel scarcity bites harder, the Federal Government has been advised to remove fuel subsidy.
Removal of subsidy on petroleum, according to the Chairman, Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria, AMPON, Wole Arisekola, will end the perennial petrol scarcity once for all.
His words: “The only way out of this incessant hardship occasioned by shortage in fuel supply is for the federal government to remove subsidy on the product, and the Buhari-led government should do this right now.
“Buhari should remove subsidy now before subsidy removes him from office because the hardship is just too much, and people are beginning to wonder if they actually made a right decision by voting this government to power”.
Arisekola, who made the remark weekend in Abuja also added that “Although this policy may initially make his government unpopular, at the end Nigerians will embrace it and commend him for it.
“The much desired change can only come by reducing the hardship on the people, and making fuel available for all and sundry will be a major step in the right direction. We all depend on fuel either to power or vehicles or run the generating sets for our business, and everybody is presently going through hardship sourcing this essential commodity.
“With the way things are now, it is obvious that there is no way out except removal of subsidy. Nigerians should be brace up for this new regime as it is the only way out. It may be hard initially but everyone will smile later if government adopts this policy”.
