The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has recorded a major success in the fight against armed groups in the North West after conducting precision airstrikes that destroyed a key terrorist stronghold in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation, carried out on Friday, November 14, by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, targeted the Sauri bandit camp — a high-ground hideout used as both a defensive fortress and logistics hub by terror elements in the area.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes followed extensive intelligence and surveillance missions that confirmed heavy terrorist activity, including the presence of rustled livestock hidden within the camp.
Fighter aircraft deployed during the mission executed multiple coordinated strikes, scoring direct hits that scattered surviving fighters attempting to escape into nearby vegetation. They were subsequently tracked and neutralised, Ejodame said.
The operation destroyed several key structures and logistics points, inflicting significant damage on the group’s operational network and weakening their capability to launch attacks within the region.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has repeatedly emphasized that the NAF remains determined to find terrorists, hunt them down, and protect the people, a message the latest operation reinforces.
The offensive is part of ongoing efforts under Operation Fansan Yamma to deny terrorists safe havens in Zamfara and bolster security across the North West as authorities push toward restoring long-term peace and stability.
