The Nigerian navy on Sunday, March 29, destroyed a bomb factory linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN) and neutralized two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) specialists during a clearance operation in Orsu local government area of Imo state.
The operation, led by the naval base Oguta tactical patrol squadron in collaboration with other security agencies, targeted IPOB/ESN hideouts within the Orsu-Ihiteukwa axis, including the Mother Valley general area.
Naval troops encountered multiple IEDs during the operation, confirming the presence of an active explosive network in the area.
Further exploitation of the location led to the discovery of a functional IED-making facility, where naval personnel swiftly executed a coordinated ambush, neutralizing two IED specialists.
Following the engagement, all recovered explosive materials were safely destroyed on the spot to neutralize any further risk to the public or security personnel.
The Nigerian navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustained, intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace in the region.
