Security agencies have taken custody of about 800 Nigerians deported from the Republic of Niger at the Jibia-Magama border in Katsina state.
The development was detailed in an operational report released on Sunday, which indicated that the group — made up of men, women, and children — arrived earlier in the day in eight buses.
Authorities said the returnees are currently being processed by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Customs Service, the police, and other security bodies.
The report stated that the exercise is aimed at ensuring proper documentation and security screening of the deportees.
It further disclosed that after profiling, the deportees would be moved to Kano state for further necessary action.
