NDLEA nabs 422 suspects in one year over drugs offenses in Jigawa

    The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA Jigawa state Command has carried out the arrest of 422 drug peddlers and seizures of 999.335kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

    The state NDLEA Commandant, Mu’azu Aliyu Dan Musa stated this on Thursday at the commemoration of the International Day against drugs abuse and illicit trafficking held at the command’s headquarters in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

    He revealed that, from June 2022 to June 2023, the Command had succeeded in arresting 422 drug offenders and seizures of 999.335kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

    The NDLEA boss said that, “422 suspects were arrested within the period under review, out of the number 409 were males and 13 females.

    “94 convicted, 186 counselled as well as rehabilitated 15 during the period under review.”

    The state commandant called on  community leaders, traditional and religious leaders, and local government council Chairmen in the state to collaborate with the agency towards the achievement of a drug-free society.
