Niger state governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) following violations of financial rules.
The secretary to the state government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, announced on Friday, November 7, that the decision is part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen and reposition the education sector for greater efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery.
Governor Bago directed all members of the dissolved board, including the secretary, to hand over all official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the permanent secretary of the ministry of basic and secondary education.
He expressed gratitude to the outgoing board members for their contributions to the growth and development of basic education in the state and wished them success in their future endeavors.
The board had been experiencing internal conflicts, particularly regarding alleged noncompliance with financial regulations.
