The Zamfara state government has recruited 500 teachers into the state civil service as part of its ongoing efforts to revitalize the education sector.
The chairman of the Zamfara state civil service commission and recruitment committee, Aliyu Mohammed Tukur, stated that the recruitment process was highly competitive.
According to Tukur, 11,708 candidates applied for the teaching positions through the state’s online portal.
Of these, 8,184 applicants met the required standards and were screened, while 3,105 candidates participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT).
He explained that 1,033 candidates advanced to the final oral interview, and after thorough evaluation, 500 were selected for appointment as teachers across the state.
The newly recruited teachers specialize in key subjects, including English, Mathematics, Sciences, and Vocational Studies.
The committee commended the ministry of education, science, and technology for its dedication and support during the recruitment process.
Tukur noted, “This recruitment marks a significant milestone in addressing the shortage of qualified teachers and improving the quality of education in public schools.
“He added that the new teachers will be deployed to schools across the state, with priority given to rural and underserved areas.”
