The Nigerian Army says it has intercepted over 400 Starlink devices used by terrorists for communication during ongoing counterterrorism operations in the North-East region.
Brigadier General Beyidi Martins, Commander of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed this while briefing journalists on intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist logistics and communication networks within the sector’s operational area.
According to him, the interception of the devices has disrupted the ability of terrorist groups to maintain easy communication across the region.
Martins also revealed that the military has collaborated with transport associations operating within the theatre of operations to track and intercept logistics supplies allegedly meant for terrorist groups.
He stated that several logistics items and equipment had been intercepted along routes stretching from Kano through Nguru to Bukarti, Geidam and parts of the Gulabi Forest, including areas around the Timbuktu Triangle.
The commander added that some of the interceptions were also carried out within local markets in Damaturu.
He further disclosed that the Army had intensified surveillance around cattle markets, alleging that terrorists use proxies to sell rustled animals in such locations.
According to Martins, the latest seizures form part of broader military efforts to cut off the logistics and supply chains sustaining terrorist activities in the North-East.
He stressed that denying insurgents access to logistics remains a key strategy in weakening their operational capacity across the region.
