The Oyo state police command today Friday, November 10, arrested a 45-year-old ritualist with a fresh human head in Ibadan, the state capital.
He was paraded at the Command Headquarters at Eleyele in Ibadan North-West Local Government Area, alongside nine others who were arrested for various crimes in the state.
The culprits were paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, through the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso.
However, on Saturday, October 15, four persons including a pastor at the Christ Liberty Evangelism Church were arrested for being in possession of a human skull in the Saje Area of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The culprits were identified as Oyenekan Oluwaseyi 30-year-old, Ibrahim Agbowewe, 40-year-old Suleiman Ogunbunmi, and 57-year-old Gafari Akinsanya, were arrested by the state Police Command.
A source in the command stated that the culprits claimed they had intended to use the skull for rituals.
This arrest was made following a tip-off from members of the public about their suspicious movement and activities in the area.
Following the information, the police officials stormed the area and arrested the four culprits.
A couple of items were found with them and they include, a big calabash, one black Toyota Camry car, and one ram found with the suspects have been recovered and taken to the police station.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest, adding that the four suspects had confessed to the crime.
“We arrested the four of them. They have since confessed that they wanted to use the head for blessings and money rituals. The investigations are ongoing to unravel more details about the incident,” the PPRO, Odutola said.
