The Nasarawa State Police Command raided a hideout suspected to be harboring internet fraudsters, leading to the arrest of 10 individuals.
This action was disclosed in a press release signed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, on Thursday, February 22.
The operation was carried out by police operatives attached to the Angwan Lambu Division, who targeted the hideout located in the Government Reserved Area of Keffi.
During the operation, authorities confiscated two laptops, 10 high-end mobile phones of various brands, three WIFI routers, as well as criminal charms, black soap, and illegal substances believed to be Loud weed and marijuana leaves.
The suspects, who have admitted to involvement in internet fraud, commonly known as Yahoo Plus, will face prosecution once investigations are completed.
Commending the officers for their swift action, Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu Nadada praised their dedication and urged them to continue conducting raids on criminal hideouts to maintain law and order.
In a separate incident, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 14 individuals suspected of internet fraud in Makurdi.
Acting on intelligence, operatives from the Makurdi Zonal Command raided a three-bedroom apartment along Achusa Road, Benue State, believed to be functioning as a training center for internet fraudsters.
The arrested individuals include Asongu Terungwa, Aese Sonter, Nyoosu Terungwa, John Kator, Udi Aodona, Terungu Mnyam, Iorwuese Terhide, Ule Francis, Imoter Gloor Emmanuel, and Samuel Lubem, along with Wergba Tertamge, Erukaa Ephraim, Agenale Franklin, and Abechi Toryila.
Items seized during the raid include laptops, ATM cards, mobile phones, a Firman generator, and a Toyota Corolla car.
