President Bola Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has postponed the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting originally set for Wednesday, November 6, with a new date to be announced soon.
The rescheduling, as confirmed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, comes in respect for the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away on the night of Tuesday, November 5.
General Lagbaja, who held his position since June 19, 2023, was honoured by President Tinubu, who ordered all flags nationwide to fly at half-staff for seven days.
Earlier in the day, the president conveyed condolences to the Lagbaja family and the Nigerian Armed Forces, paying tribute to the general’s notable service and expressing wishes for his eternal peace.
