Troops of the 12 brigade, Nigerian army, on Tuesday, February 10th, announced that they dismantled terrorists’ hideout in Kogi state and rescued seven kidnapped victims.
The operation was carried out in forest enclaves at Batijjo’s camp in Adonkolo/Kakanda forest.
Troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight, overran the camp, and forced the criminals to flee.
During the operation, the troops recovered weapons, ammunition, military and police camouflage, and documents, including a foreign passport, significantly degrading the terrorists’ operational capacity.
In a follow-up operation at Tajimi, troops intercepted a fleeing terrorist who abandoned his motorcycle, which was recovered for intelligence purposes.
The army also responded to a kidnapping incident along Okene-Onyukoko road, rescuing seven escapees, while search-and-rescue operations continue for the remaining victims.
Among the rescued victims was a serving soldier who had been abducted while traveling from Abeokuta to Zaria.
Medical teams have since stabilized all the rescued victims.
The Nigerian army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across Kogi state and adjoining areas.
