Troops of sector two under Operation Desert Sanity (OPDS) V on Sunday, February 22, neutralized 15 terrorists during a precision raid on Lamusheri village in Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

The operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering supported by satellite imagery and surveillance platforms, which identified Lamusheri as a major staging ground for attacks and a logistics hub for terrorists operating in the north east.

Despite coming under fire while advancing on the target, troops of sector two, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), maneuvered to outflank the terrorists and block possible escape routes.

After an exchange of gunfire, 15 terrorists were neutralized, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Troops also destroyed defensive positions and makeshift life-support structures within the camp.

Five tricycles and two vehicles used for logistics and attacks were set ablaze, and a cache of weapons, ammunition, bandoliers, and camel pouches was recovered from the site.

The Nigerian army reiterated its commitment to sustaining momentum in the fight against terrorism and restoring stability to affected communities.
