Troops of the north east joint task force under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on Thursday, February 19, neutralized a Boko Haram commander, Abdullahi Mafa, and arrested two logistics suppliers linked to the terrorist group in Adamawa state.
Abdullahi was neutralized by troops of sector four during an ambush operation around the Visik river line in Madagali local government area, following credible intelligence on terrorist movements in the area.
An AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine were recovered from the scene after the exchange of fire.
Troops also apprehended a 28-year-old logistics supplier identified as Ismail Muhammed, who is responsible for transporting food items, ammunition, and other materials to terrorist enclaves in the Visik general area of Hong local government area.
Items recovered from him included an AK-47 magazine, 7.62mm rounds, military accoutrements, and assorted food supplies.
Acting on further intelligence, troops later arrested a 64-year-old Dauda Usman at Madagali motor park for supplying aerial drones to the terrorists.
The joint task force spokesperson, Sani Uba, said the drones were modified locally and used for surveillance and tactical coordination during attacks on troops’ positions.
Two drones, accessories, and multiple solar-powered banks were seized during the arrest.
In a separate operation in Ngamdu, Borno state, troops of sector two, in collaboration with vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), repelled an insurgent incursion and neutralized a terrorist informant who attempted to breach defensive positions.
The military high command described the operations as part of sustained efforts to dismantle Boko Haram’s supply chains and deny the group freedom of movement across the north east.
