Nigerian troops have rescued five kidnapped victims after raiding suspected terrorist camp in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma following credible intelligence that armed terrorists riding on about 10 motorcycles were moving from Kawaye towards Tungan Kudaduku.
Acting on the intelligence, the troops deployed to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the camp and flee into the surrounding bush.
A search of the camp led to the rescue of the five kidnapped victims, who were found unharmed.
The rescued victims are receiving medical attention and other necessary care before being reunited with their families.
Military authorities said troops have maintained a strong presence in the area to prevent the terrorists from returning.
The authorities added that the operation forms part of the ongoing offensive by operation Fansan Yamma aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts and improving security across Zamfara state and other parts of the north-west.
