Troops of third brigade under Operation MESA on Monday, December 15, have rescued three residents abducted by gunmen in Zurin Mahauta village, Lakwaya town, Gwarzo local government area of Kano state.
The abduction occurred when gunmen invaded the village on Sunday, December 14, and whisked away five residents to an unknown location before troops moved in to track them.
They were rescued after sustained search-and-rescue efforts in the area by troops of third brigade, Nigerian air force, and the Nigeria police force.
The spokesperson of the army‘s third brigade, Babatunde Zubairu, confirmed that three out of the five residents have been rescued so far.
