Troops of sector seven under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) on Wednesday, January 28, rescued eight kidnapped victims in Badurum Kasa forest, Kauru local government area of Kaduna state.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a swift and coordinated offensive in collaboration with the Zango Kataf police area command, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), forest guards, and local hunters.
Upon making contact with the joint security team at approximately 5:59 p.m., the kidnappers abandoned their camp and fled into the bush, unable to withstand the superior firepower of the advancing troops.
The rescued victims were identified as Rashida Musa (19), Hafsat Nuhu (18), Zakari Saleh (52), Hasiya Yahaya (13), Ahmed Yahaya (14), Ibrahim Saiba (11), Salma Yahaya (14), and Sophan Idris (18).
They were recovered unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.
The Nigerian army described the operation as a demonstration of effective inter-agency collaboration and intelligence-driven security efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring safety in vulnerable communities.
The army further reiterated its commitment to sustaining pressure on armed groups operating within forested areas of Kaduna state and assured residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property.
