Veteran comic actor, Abiodun Ayoyinka on Saturday, March 21, rebranded his identity from Papa Ajasco to Bondu Alaska.
He made the announcement in a video shared on his instagram page, where he formally introduced his new stage name to fans and the public.
Ayoyinka declared his new identity while expressing appreciation for the support he has received from Nigerians in recent days.
He noted that the encouragement has inspired him to embrace a fresh start and reposition himself in the entertainment industry.
“I want to use this medium to thank Nigerians because they have done a lot in my life.
”I’m a new person now, and I promise that I will not let you down,” he said.
The rebranding follows his recent disclosure of financial difficulties and his inability to secure advertisement deals due to trademark restrictions on the Papa Ajasco character.
However, the chairman of Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP), Wale Adenuga, debunked his financial difficulties claim.
He revealed that the actor spent over three decades as a civil servant with the Lagos state council for arts and culture.
He also clarified that the actor was not barred from using the name but only required the company’s permission to do so.
The actor has since updated his instagram handle to @bondualaska_, encouraging fans and potential brand partners to connect with him under his new identity.
