Bashir el-Rufai, the son of Nasir el-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna, has announced that his marriage to Halima Nwakaego Kazuare is over.
The couple tied the knot in a traditional ceremony held in Abuja in November 2020.
Bashir while speaking about his current marital status confirmed he is now divorced and already looking ahead to his next marriage.
He hinted that the breakup was caused by generational differences, cryptically suggesting that his ex-wife belonged to a younger, Gen Z mindset he no longer wished to accommodate.
When another user asked about the ethnicity of his future wife, Bashir disclosed that she is Nupe and originally from Bida, Niger state.
He added that he is thoroughly enjoying the experience, saying Nupe women treat their husbands like emperors.
“Divorced and soon to be married again,” he wrote on X
In another post, he elaborated: “Yes, she’s from Bida, and yes, I divorced my first wife. I have no time for GenZ wahala. The difference is clear, I had no clue Nupe women treat their husbands like emperors. Loving it.”
Bashir said he has never pursued a woman or asked anyone to marry him. He insisted that Halima was the one who proposed to him, not the other way around.
“I don’t toast babes. Never have. It’s not even about bragging rights or pride. Neither have I ever used money in exchange for companionship,” he wrote.
“Sometimes it’s even years later I discover one babe or another liked me. I can’t tell. They make the first move. I also never asked a girl to marry me. Even my 1st she was the one that proposed.”
He concluded with a personal wish: “I want a baby girl by September. Keep doing slay queen here”.
